From Engineer to Founder: Lessons Learned

Writing great software and running a software business are adjacent skills, not the same one. Here is what surprised me most.

Shipping is a feature

The best architecture in the world earns nothing until a customer can use it.

As an engineer I optimized for correctness. As a founder I optimized for learning — and learned that a wrong product shipped beats a perfect one stalled.

What transferred

• Taste for clean systems → taste for clean onboarding
• Bias for automation → automating the business, not just the code -Code review habits → hiring and delegation

What did not

The throughline

The senior-engineer instinct — reduce risk, increase leverage, ship — turns out to be the whole job. Only the surface area got much larger.
